The Installation Process
Every quality patio starts below ground. We excavate to the proper depth, usually about 8 inches total. This gives us room for 4 inches of compacted gravel base and 4 inches of concrete. The gravel provides drainage and a stable foundation. We slope everything slightly away from your house so water never pools against your foundation.
Next comes forming and reinforcement. We set sturdy forms to define the patio edges and shape. Inside the forms, we install steel reinforcement or fiber mesh to control cracking. For stamped and decorative concrete projects, we plan the pattern layout before we pour so everything lines up properly.
The concrete pour happens quickly, but the finishing work takes skill and timing. We screed the surface level, float it smooth, and add the texture or pattern you chose. For stamped work, we apply color hardener, press the stamp mats, and detail the joints. The entire process has to happen while the concrete is still workable, which is why experience matters so much.
After finishing, your new patio needs time to cure. We apply curing compound to help it gain strength properly. You can walk on it in about 24 hours, but we recommend waiting a week before putting furniture on it. Full strength develops over 28 days. Once cured, your patio is ready for years of use with minimal maintenance.
